Scholarship Program

In keeping with Aminadav Aloni's own passion for Jewish music, both liturgical and secular as evidenced by his enormous body of work, the AAMF has created a scholarship program designed to nuture his legacy through young talent. The scholarship is designed to allow currently enrolled cantorial students to win $3000.00 by following guidelines to be detailed in the near future on this website. This scholarship will be awarded once each year to a recipient selected by a panel of three judges.

The Recipient the 2001 Scholarship

Aaron Hill born 1981
At 21, is principal oboist of the Flint Symphony Orchestra. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Michigan. He has been honored as Detroit Chamber Winds Young Artist of the Year to perform on their Nightnotes recital series and as a Yamaha Young Performing Artist.

He has attended numerous summer festivals including the Hot Springs Music Festival, the Henry Mancini Institute, and was Young Artist in Residence at the Brandeis-Bardin Collegiate Institute. This summer he was invited to perform in the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival Orchesterakademie in Northern Germany. His principal teachers include soloist Nancy Ambrose King, David Weiss of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Shelley Heron of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Aaron also performs on saxophone, flute, and clarinet.
